Systems Accessories
B&D Manufacturing, Inc. produces the best geothermal accessories available today. Their QT and GT pump modules and flow centers feature a non- pressurized approach with the reliability of Grundfos circulating pump(s). These pump packages contain a water vessel with a self sealing top, an air elimination dip tube on the inlet side, a pump protecting check valve on the outlet side and isolation valves for the circulator(s) There is no pressure on the tank since the pump(s) apply pressure to the loop field first. This will enable installers to fill, purge and add anti-freeze without a purge card when loop field manifolds are inside the building. When fluid is circulated through the canister, air is eliminated and trapped in the top of the chamber. When the self-sealing top is in place, the chamber also acts as an expansion tank.
Another great product from B&D is their HSS tank. This tank is a necessity for geothermal "water to water" systems when radiant in-floor Pex tubing and hydronic fan coils are used. Simply put, this tank has 4 ports, line and load, supply and return all mix into one "thermal mixing" tank which is pre packaged for each specific application. The tanks feature stainless steel construction, fully insulated from the factory, custom sized circulator pumps are already attached to an insulated manifold and a control box with an optional 24V transformer. Sizes range from 12, 20, 30, 40, 60 and 80 gallons. (6-10 gal/ton is recommended)
Grout
GeoPro, Inc developed and Black Hills Bentonite, LLC manufacture the best grout available in today's geothermal market. They offer 3 distinctive grout products, Thermal Grout Select, Thermal Grout Lite and BH20. All three products contain no polymers or organic matter and are certified to National Sanitation Foundations International to ANSI/NSF Standard 60, Drinking Water Treatment Chemicals- Health Effect.
Thermal Grout Select is a unique bentonite based 2 part, field mixed, high to extreme high solids, grouting material that can be mixed to meet a wide range of thermal conductivities from 1.00 to 1.20 Btu/hr degrees F. and was developed for applications were thermal conductivity in the vertical bore hole column is critical to system performance. Additionally, when properly mixed, gives more than 30 minutes work time before significant hydration occurs and this product will not flash hydrate.
Thermal Grout Lite is also a bentonite based, 2 part product, field mixed, high to very high solids, grouting material that will meet a wide range of thermal conductivity from .45 to 1.00 Btu/hr degrees F. This product is often used for residential applications.
BH20 grout is a pre-mixed ready to use, 20% solids modified bentonite grout which has been designed to be mixed with fresh water and pumped to its destination. Once placed, it will set into a semi-rigid plug and is suitable for sealing well casings , discontinued abandoned wells and geothermal applications were thermal conductivity is not an issue. BH20 also meets all minimum state regulations for grouting materials.
Centennial Geothermal Exchange Pipe
Engineers and architects often specify Centennial geothermal products because they are expressly engineered to withstand the working pressures and temperatures of a geothermal heat pump system. By using cutting-edge extrusion technologies and the finest quality polyethylene materials, Centennial Plastics has earned a positive reputation for making pipe of the highest quality for use in geothermal applications.
Contractors can now eliminate the time-consuming chore of fusing pipe to fittings. Coils of geothermal CenFuse pipe are securely fused to the Centennial Bullet™ U-Bend fittings at the manufacturing plant. The result is the exclusive Centennial EarthLoop™, which is ready to install the moment it arrives at the job site.
Centennial Bullet™ U-Bend Fittings accommodate CenFuse pipe in 1-1/4”, 1” and 3/4” diameters, and they are the narrowest U-bend fittings on the market today -- allowing a narrower bore hole which requires less grout and less annular space for more efficient drilling.
Design Service
The quality of a geothermal system is directly related to the quality of the components and the quality of the installation. 95% of failed HVAC systems are directly related to poor installations. Our design service is performed by licensed professional engineers who are certified by the International Ground Source Heat Pump Association (IGSPHA).
All subs bid on one plan, keeping everyone involved "on the same page" thereby eliminating individuals' interpretation of the same job.
Each project design starts with the heat loss/heat gain calculations for the building. The ground loop is then designed based on the buildings heating/cooling loads (as per IGSPHA specifications), site limitations and restrictions, and then the interior distribution is designed according to ASHRAE standards.
